How to quality check watercolor paper batches?

Postby burf » Tue Nov 15, 2016 4:39 pm

If I get watercolor paper (paper handmade from cotton) from the factory, is there a way to quality check the batches?

Nope except whatever is visible with a glance, for example spots on the surface or discolorations and such things.
It is impossible to find out if the sizing is ok or if the paper buckles though. But you can ask them for samples, sheets of paper from each batch in order to test them at home. ( but then remember to buy your supplies from the same batch you picked up the sample). :)

The Strathmore 400 series sketchbook review is here (I moved it at last on my web site).

Just use it. If it doesn't suit you, perhaps you can resell it and get some of your money back.
