God bless the cell phone: people are now so preoccupied with those infernal things, they no longer notice when you are sketching them. :-)

Welcome, Sean. Like Brian, I don't always comment, but I check the sketches. I really like the distinct characters in 022018b.

I see you use Noodler's Bulletproof Black. I've recently had a horrid experience with BPB, fortunately in a cheap Duke pen. The pen had been sitting on my desk for a month or two. Then I cleared stuff off my desk, found it and tried writing with it. It wouldn't. Dipped it in my waterpot, which always in the past started ink flowing in that pen, including when loaded with W&N's Calligraphic Ink and my own thinner but still pigmented Ambre de Karroo. Still nothing. Opened it and found a little dried-out ink inside. Sucked up water many times, and used a bulb. Then wrapped a white tissue around the nib of the pen and shook it (I was at my desk in my study, where I don't want water flying around). I'm sorry now that I didn't photograph the full horror of it. Basically, about a square inch solid but fairly short "hairs" of ink appeared on the tissue. It looked like a chemical mishap, but I don't care about the cause; some of my pens are irreplaceable.

I won't be using the Noodler's again.

Nothing like that has ever happened to me with Platinum's Carbon Ink for fountain pens in either pens or Kuretake (synthetic K13) fude brushes. (Our founder, however, discovered that the Kuretake sable fude brushes die when loaded with pigmented ink, which basically makes the couple I have a bit dicey because Kuretake's own ink, which works blamelessly for many months on end, doesn't always resist water.)

Nor for that matter has Sailor's nano-carbon ink ever let me down, though admittedly I use it only in Sailor's own pens, which are designed for it.
